Oh my!

Oh my, I think we might have ruined her! I talked to Bailey Sunday night on the phone and she described in great detail what she wore to church that day down to the kind of tights and shoes she had on . . . and then she said "and nobody even said anything about it". Oh my!

Bailey is very prissy and loves clothes, especially shoes and she is adorable, but I think she knows it. She's been loving shoes since she was very tiny. Oh my, how are we going to afford her.

IMPRESSIVE??? OR OBSESSIVE???

I'm impressed with myself, I spend hours yesterday making menus for the next two weeks and then grocery list from menus and recipes and then studying grocery store sale papers to find the best deals and then I did it all night too, (not literally - I just couldn't unwind and go to sleep)that's what you call obsessive. I even decorated a binder with my scrapbook supplies, and made divider tabs for menus, grocery list, recipes, etc. Actually I was inspired by some forms I found over at donnayoung.org, it's actually a site for homeschooling, which I absolutely do not need because my kids are grown, but even if they weren't I've been down that road before and never want to go back there, just thought I'd throw that in. But anyway, there are a lot of household forms on that site that I found really helpful and inspiring, check it out. And here is a picture of my obsessiveness.

I would be truly impressed with myself if I continued to do that every two weeks, but I don't function like that - I'm either obsessed or I'm nothing. So while I'm being obsessive maybe I'll organize my housecleaning, or lack thereof, as I've been inspired by Barbara who was inspired by the FlyLady. I think this post even sounds a little obsessive!

One more thing, well actually two, on the menu this week is Onion Burgers that Paula Deen made on her show one day and they are soooo good and really quick and easy and also on the menu is BooMama's fabulous cornbread. You must try these recipes!!!

Here's the Onion Burger Recipe:

Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
2 to 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 can French onion soup
Yellow mustard
Mayonnaise
White or whole-wheat bread or buns
1 medium onion, cut into rings

Directions
Brown ground beef and drain. Sprinkle in the flour. Add onion soup, stir
and cook until meat mixture is thickened and most of the liquid is absorbed.
Spread mustard and mayonnaise, to taste, on bread. Spoon the ground beef mixture onto bread and top with onion.

God's Faithfulness

It's almost 2am and I'm still awake, this gets so old. Anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, they all get old - but I just came across a verse that reminded me that God is faithful. I forget that sometimes, but when I stop and think about the last 9 years - I know that He is the only thing that could have brought me this far - and he has a reason.

Pay It Forward

I came across a blog tonight with a "Pay It Forward Challenge", I liked the idea so I got on board. This is a great way to bless others with a surprise in their mail--using your time, energy and love.

Here are the rules:
  • The first 3 bloggers to leave a comment on this post will receive a handmade item from me.
  • Those 3 bloggers promise to post this challenge on their blog (meaning they too will "pay it forward", creating a handmade gift for the first 3 bloggers that leave a comment on their blog.) That's a lot of handmade love being passed around!
  • The gift can be any price range - though I'm thinking that keeping it small will be sufficient.
  • You have 365 days to make/ship your gift. So, the person receiving this will definitely be surprised when a package shows up unexpectedly in their mailbox. As you can see, if everyone cooperates and "pays it forward" this spreading of love could go on for a very long time.
  • If you want to participate, just leave a comment telling me so and then repost this on your blog so that you can "pay it forward" to 3 others, and so on, and so on, and so on...
  • You can still leave a comment on what you think about this even if you don't want to participate. I'm anxious to see who the first 3 will be who want to participate in this venture of spreading our love for one another.
